TAIWANESE GOVERNMENT PASSED THE "HUMAN SUBJECT RESEARCH ACT" TO REGULATE THE AREA OF HUMAN RESEARCH


The Taiwanese Legislative Yuan passed the "Human Subject Research Act" on Dec. 28, 2011. The purpose of making this Act was considering that even though the research focused on "human" is beneficial to the development of the country´s scientific research; however, because of the imbalance of information between the researcher and the study participants during the processes of research, it is inevitable to harm the interests of study participants. Accordingly, the phenomenon of the imbalance of information is likely to result in the potential conflict of interest between the researcher and the study participants....[more]

THE NEW PROJECT OF TAIWAN INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY OFFICE - TW-SUPPORT USING THE PPH AGREEMENT

The Taiwan Intellectual Property Office (TIPO) joined the Patent Prosecution Highway (PPH) in September 2011, and became the 19th cooperation office. In order to assist patent applicants in obtaining patents from both Taiwan and US in a short patent review period, the TIPO has planned another project calling "TW-Support Using the PPH Agreement (TW-SUPA)" this year, and its pilot application process will start on March 1, 2012....[more]

EXECUTIVE YUAN ANNOUNCED TO PUSH THE "ENERGY TAX LAW" AND DRAW UP RELATED SUPPORTING MEASURES

Aim to fulfill the national destination of environment sustainable development and the "Golden Decade" justice taxation policy that was announced by the President in October 2011, newly appointed ROC Premier, Sean C. Chen announced that the government will push the enactment of "energy tax law" for advancing the efficiency of energy utilization and perfecting the financial major policy with the "Energy Saving and Carbon Reduction Action Plans" while he was presenting his policy addresses to the Legislative Yuan in February (2012)....[more]

LEGISLATIVE YUAN PASSED THE AMENDMENT OF THE "VEHICLE LICENSE TAX ACT" TO PROMOTE THE DEVELOPMENT OF INTELLIGENT ELECTRIC VEHICLES

In order to promote the development of intelligent electric vehicles and boost the consumption incentives, the Legislative Yuan passed the amendment of the "Vehicle License Tax Act" authorizing local governments to offer a three-year exemption from vehicle license tax for such vehicles and formulating the amount of electric vehicle license tax on January 4, 2012. The goal of the policy in "Intelligent Electric Vehicle Development Strategies and Action Plan" of Executive Yuan has been achieved through this amending process....[more]
