About Staff

Section Manager Hsu Wei-Yu has extensive experience assisting the government in promoting technology-related policies and legislations. His contributions include: Assisting the National Science and Technology Council amend the Fundamental Science and Technology Act, regulations on research results management and utilization, tax deferral measures for PIs, regulations on researchers' concurrent positions and stock from technology investments, the Artificial Intelligence Basic Law, as well as subordinate laws related to national core critical technologies authorized by the National Security Law and the Cross-Strait Relations Act.

He currently serves as the principal investigator for the National Science and Technology Council's legal analysis project on industry-academia collaboration and R&D results management, and as the principal investigator for commissioned legal research projects. Additionally, he is executing projects analyzing innovative ecological environments and regulatory policies for emerging technology research and development for the National Science and Technology Council, and projects improving regulations related to R&D results for the Ministry of Health and Welfare.

In recent years, Hsu's research has spanned AI legislation, national core critical technologies, technology protection, research results and industry-academia collaboration, science parks, cultural technology, and startup investment-related domestic and international policies and legal research. During his tenure at the Science and Technology Law Institute of the Institute for Information Industry, he served as a legal think tank for government agencies, providing recommendations on technology-related policies and legal frameworks.
